I just released a music video called "Girl with Half Moon Eyes" . It features women, a bordello, gryphon's, opium smoking, pianos and more :)

It's set in the 1920's and in one shot (I'll let you find it) I made a very obvious homage to Manray and to German Expressionism.

Vanessa Williams Teases UGLY BETTY 'Musical Episode' On Wendy Williams Show
Tuesday, July 14, 2009; Posted: 10:07 AM - by BWW News Desk

"Ugly Betty" star Vanessa Williams guested on The Wendy Williams Show yesterday Monday, July 13th and spoke on a variety of subjects, including the news of an upcoming musical episode for the ABC comedy serieS. Williams mentioned that is would be happening this season.

A musical episode has been rumored for the Broadway friendly series for the last couple of years. In 2007 it was reported that the show secured the talents of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (HAIRSPRAY, upcoming CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) and Jerry Mitchell (LEGALLY BLONDE, HAIRSPRAY, BROADWAY BARES) but the writers strike halted any production at that time. The show employs the talents of many stage actors in both starring and guest roles each week. Patti LuPone, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Kristen Chenoweth are just a few of the theatre favorites who have graced episodes.

William dished about the new season of "Ugly Betty" and performed a song from her new CD, "The Real Thing." She also revealed she'd love to return to Broadway if it could be worked out with her shooting schedule.

"Ugly Betty" is a Golden Globe and Emmy winning comedy starring America Ferrera in the title role, along with Eric Mabius, Judith Light, Rebecca Romijn and Vanessa Williams. The series premiered on September 28, 2006, on ABC in the United States.

Every time Lawrence and I go to Cornwall-on-Hudson, the town right next door to ours, we have an amazing time. Whether it be Beltaine festival, a fundraiser concert where we discover an amazing new gypsy band or a visit to Brid's Closet, the pagan shop of a new lovely friend Bernadette, we come back at night in a state of artistic inspiration that's like an electric shock.

Last Saturday we had the privilege of attending a breath-taking, mystical performance by Miss Elizabeth Muise. In an intimate loft space adorned with jewel-colored gauze and silks, twinkling candles and filled with the intoxicating scent of incense, the audience lounged on cushions at the feet of the performers as they watched them dance to the music of a passionate young drummer. A dream of the thousand and first night tucked away in the sleepy Hudson Valley. I'm glad we thought to bring a fan - we certainly needed it.

I have seen some amazing belly-dancers in my life, and I thought nothing could top the duo I saw perform at the Dances of Vice New Year's Eve Party. Elizabeth's performance is in a league of its own. The lady is so talented, enchanting, beautiful and kind, I can only say it's an honor to watch her perform. Not to mention that in addition to being a dancer, she is a brilliant artist and photographer.

Thanks to her incredible performance, there is now another Orientalist party in the works... If you think the last one, a couple of years ago, was good, hold on to your turbans.

Update - Pinup #2 - Havel! aaaand a Contest!
by His Majesty, the King of Baritaria ([info]tzarohell)
at July 12th, 2009 (11:50 pm)

It had been a while since we had a pinup... so I did our friendly modern main character, Havel.

Check him out!"

Because of the way the family trees ended up, the "present day" part seems to be more like 10 years ago. It doesn't matter much, as Baritaria is rather behind the times anyway.
ok. Now....

Contest Rules!

Create a piece of fan art from Baritarian Boy. This can be drawn in any style or technique, or even be non-traditional, like photography or origami or um... pizza.. art..?

Prizes!
• Each and every entry will get a web-doodle of your choice (meaning you provide us with a subject and we'll doodle it and post it on this journal for your delight)
• Two Grand Prizes (one for best art, one for best concept/originality) will be a full-color art piece of your choice. One by myself, one by Fyodor.

A little discussion
by She who writes at night ([info]author_by_night)
at July 12th, 2009 (08:37 am)

Sure, it's fun to talk about new UB products and the faces and minds behind the show. But it's also fun to talk about the show itself, even when it's not running. In fact, I think it's the best time, since we're now in between seasons and have had more time to digest everything we've seen.

So, questions:

1. Have you seen any other versions of Betty le Fea, or, indeed, the original show itself? How would you rate the other show(s) in comparison to Ugly Betty?

2. Which season did you prefer? Or is it more about specific episodes?

3. This is going way back to season one, but am I the only one who thought Walter was an emotionally stunted control freak? People have complained that he was whiny, but there were episodes in which he reminded me of a ninth grader who won't give his girlfriend space and won't eat anything except hamburgers. ("I want real food, Betty.") It always disturbed me that the Suarez family wanted Betty to get back with Walter.

4. Was Betty better off in her apartment, or do you think the writers made the right choice in having her move back home?

Let's discuss! :)
